It all started off many, many, many, years ago.

The hallways were brand new, the walls were freshly painted, and chalkboards were still a thing. Named after a few famous men, these buildings were the elementary schools for Lakewood, Ohio. They were put to great use over all the years but sadly, they began to deteriorate. Eventually the citizens and government of Lakewood decided it was time for an upgrade.

So, once again, after many, many, many, years, the city of Lakewood built new elementary schools.

First off, there wasRoosevelt Elementary, located at 14237 Athens Avenue. For the grand opening, the dedication was held on August 18. On the outside, the city went with a more modern look (as all the other newer elementary schools look) and simple facade. Unlike the previous building, this one now has the playground/recess area in the back. Originally it was in the front of the school without a fence. The front of the building has a driveway for pick-up and drop-off and also a parking lot.

A second building that went up in Lakewood is Grant Elementary. Grant is located at 1470 Victoria Avenue. This new building also follows the modern facade of the Lakewood architecture. Their dedication took place on August 16.

Finally, the last brand-new building added to Lakewood is Lincoln Elementary. It is located at 15615 Clifton Blvd. Just like the rest of the dedications, the school principal, Ms. Kozelka, the mayor, and members of Lakewood High School’s marching band and cheerleaders were in attendance.
