Lakewood High Schools offers several great clubs that are worth joining and worth a little of your time before and after school. Sadly, I only have the chance to talk about one of these great clubs.

The club I chose to talk about is Facing History Girls’ Leadership. The Facing History Girls’ Leadership Group is run by Ms. Eadah in Mod 22. The whole objective of the club is to bridge the gap between American, immigrant, and refugee girls. The group engages in numerous leadership activities.

For example, they have field trips and several cultural celebrations. The group also does much more. They do tons of charity work. Every year they hold the refugee donation drive and help with the Cleveland Christian Charity. The leadership group also does visits many parks and museums. the Facing History Girls’ Leadership group will also have holiday celebrations based on others cultural holidays.

This year the group is doing something new — they are mentoring a refugee family that is from Syria. Overall this is a great group who offers so much from charity work to celebrating the culture of other students here at LHS. This group really can help one learn about the background of the refugees and immigrants who attend Lakewood High School.
