The Lakewood Times likes to give special individuals  the “Person of the Week” award. These individuals are randomly picked for their efforts to make  this community a better place.

The  Person Of The Week is Keith Ahearn, Principal of Lakewood High School.

Mr.Ahearn has put great efforts towards making this school better for us the students these first few rough weeks.

Mr.Ahearn started teaching at an adult school in Connecticut and then became an 8th grade teacher at a middle school in Connecticut. He attended Fairfield University in Connecticut and graduated in 1996.

Ahearn joined Lakewood City Schools in 2009 and started as a principal at Harding Middle School and then transferred to Lakewood High in the 2013-2014 school year.

Here’s a glimpse at our conversation:

Q: What made you choose your career?

A: “I’ve always liked school. I had some teachers that had a very big impact on my life and I want to share that impact on others.”

Q: In your opinion what makes Lakewood the community it is?

A:”The diversity of the population, the small businesses, the restaurants, the beautiful homes, and the perks of a big city in a small city.”

Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of while you were working for the district?

A:”I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished my greatest achievement yet.  My biggest accomplished will be finishing the new building and seeing the first class to graduate in there.”

Q: Out of all the districts you’ve worked for, what makes Lakewood stand out from the rest?

A:”It’s really the people who live and work for the district.  The parents,students, and staff are just really great people. Lakewood’s very diverse and very accepting. Everyon’s respected.”
