A little history for you is that the word tattoo can be traced back to the Polynesian noun tatau, which means “puncture, mark made on skin” or Tahitian “tatu” which means “to mark something.” Tattoos can be traced back to 1200 BCE. The earliest tattoos can be traced to Egypt during the time of which the great pyramids were being constructed. Though theres no evidence it undoudtbly started much earlier. But when the Egyptians expanded their empire, the art of tattooing spread. The civilizations of Crete, Greece, Persia, and Arabia started dabling with the art form. Around 2000 BC tattooing spread all the way to China. Some people even believed that that tattoos on the fingers or wrists warded away illness and evil. Other reasons people got tattoos were to show that they were in a clan or cult or now in more recent times gangs.

Do you have tattoos or know anyone with them? well, for these people believe it or not its harder for them to get jobs. Discrimination against people with tattoos is very common. In 2015 it was a fact that 20% of adults have tattoos. Millennial’s bring this number up to a whopping 38%. A millennial by the way is someone born from 1981 to 1982. In a recent study it was shown that resource professionals said that 60% of people trying to obtain a job with body art will not be accepted.

Discrimination in general is a growing problem. But, to believe that people know matter how good they are at their jobs will not get it because they wanted to express their individuality is some kind of sick joke. Most causes for not accepting tattoos is due to religion. According to the bible verse Cornithians 6:19, “you’re body is a temple”. Some people see this as you should not change anything about yourself or even wear makeup in some cases. Some even prohibit wearing certain kinds of clothing or even showing your hair. But, if you’re body is a temple than why not decorate the walls?
