    AP Course Applications for the 2017-18 school year are now available in all offices and from your teachers.  Students who wish to be considered for enrollment in an AP course for next year must complete an application and submit it to House 2 this Friday, January 13th.  Please follow the directions listed on the Application Form. See your Guidance Counselor, an AP Teacher or Mr. Takacs if you have any questions.

     

    Model UN is meeting tonight at 5:30 pm in room C314.  See Dr. G if you have any questions.

     

     

    Attention music lovers! Do you want to get to know music on a deeper level? Do you like writing and analyzing music? If so, see any music teacher for information on next year’s AP Music Theory Class. You will be given a practice test for the actual entrance exam this Friday.

     

    LHS PTA is now accepting nominations from students for the Educator of the Year and Helping Hands awards for our wonderful teachers and staff. Nomination forms can be picked up in the Bookroom and dropped off in the PTA Mailbox in the main office. Forms are due next Tuesday, January 17th.

     

    Barnstormers will meet in Ms. Sabin’s room, B206, tomorrow after school. Make sure you stop by and hear about crews for the one acts!!

     

    Barney’s Café is January 25th at 7:30pm on The Civic stage. Do you have a hidden or not so hidden talent in poetry, prose, music, visual arts and all other performing art forms that you can think of? Be part of a live intimate setting when performers and audience share The Civic stage. No auditions, signup sheet is posted on the door to The Civic.  Come enjoy coffee, tea and other beverages. Bake sale from the Barnstormers to go with your awesome beverages. This event is sponsored by The Barnstormers and the LHS Orchestra programs.​

     

     

    Here’s a reminder from the bookroom … when you are finished with first semester classes, don’t forget to turn the textbook in to the bookroom.

     

    There will be a Girls Rugby meeting for parents and students on January 17th, 7:00pm at Harding, in the cafetorium. The new coaching staff will be introduced.

     

    Boys’ rugby will have a meeting in room C114, after school, tomorrow.

     

    The Lakewood Project Presents Pop Royalty! Support your high school and enjoy a fantastic performance featuring Lakewood High School’s very own Abby Boland as well as the Cover-Ups. We will be performing music from Beyoncé, Sia, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson, and many more. The show will take place on Saturday, January 21st at 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased in the Book Room or from any member in the group for $10 ahead of time. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $12. Come and jam with the very first high school rock orchestra!

     

     

    Looking for a great summer job?  Lakewood Recreation is now hiring enthusiastic and responsible students for summer jobs as lifeguards, pool attendants, concession workers, baseball scorekeepers and more!  Complete an application at www.lakewoodrecreation.com.  Lifeguard training courses are available this spring – sign up today!

     

    Sign-ups are still open for H2O’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Monday, January 16th. Join 60 of your friends for a great day of service in the community. Add your name to the purple signup sheet outside the H2O office in B125 and take a permission form home to have signed and return tomorrow.
