    Oscars Mistake

    Oscars+Mistake

On February 26th 2017, the Oscars held their award ceremony and all was well. Shortly in,  La La land was presented as “Best Picture” and everything seemed to be fine. As the cast came up to get their congratulations, a mistake was made evident. Looking into the case, it is clear to see that a PWC partner had accidentally handed Warren Beatty, the presenter of the award, the wrong envelope labeled “Best Actress.” Seeing that it said Emma Stone’s name, she assumed it was for La La land. Seconds after the award was presented, chaos began to fill the stage and another PWC partner came up to the microphone to announce that there had been a mistake. He began to tell the audience that Moonlight was actually the receiver of this award.  Confusion filled everyones minds as to how this happened. Mr. Ryan stated in an interview that the mistake made is one they need to live up to, and they plan on doing so once they get to the bottom of what happened. On Monday after the Oscars, social media blew up with hash tags and hateful remarks regarding the incident, and many viewers are still very confused. Was this another Steve Harvey moment, or did someone plan for this to happen?  As the world says tuned on this event, hopefully the answers come soon. But for now, Moonlight holds the “Best Picture” award and The Oscars hold pure embarrassment until an explanation is released.
