    First Win of the Season

    First+Win+of+the+Season

On Sunday March 19 the Lakewood Girl’s Rugby team had their first win of the season against the Parma Flamingos. With the first break away, Junior and one of the captains Layana Perry trucks down the field to score our first try within the first 5-10 minutes of the game. Junior Saher Hamdan also scored a few tries against the Parma Flamingos.

The Lakewood team was up 30-10 By the end of the first 35 minute half.

The start of the second half began with a few substituted players in order for everyone to get a feel for the game whether they were new or old players. Freshman Ciera Al-Ruh had her first try of the season and of her life in this first game. She has many more to come as she is an outstanding player and teammate.

Senior Angela Poole broke her collar-bone for the third time in the second half. She is currently in a sling but will continue to be a part of the team because she has much love and support from all of her teammates. Senior Kamryn Jefferson also tore a muscle in her leg.

Sophomore Beyonce Smith dislocated her knee cap at a practice right before the first game. She tried her best to be able to play in the first game but she will unfortunately have to wait to play until she gets better. All in all, they say the win was worth it and everything they have been through with all of the drama and issues is all coming to an end. Their next game is at Garfield Middle School April 9th against Medina at 2:30pm. I’ll see you there!

Good luck ladies! We are right behind you to support you all!
