As the Tribe begins this week, high school softball has been off to a slow start with April bring a lot of showers to rain out most of the softball games.

The varsity girls have only played two games due to the rainy weather. The girls are 1-1 as of right now.

On Monday, the girls faced the shore-gals at Avon Lake. Their second game of the season lend to a win of 7-3.

Pitching her first full game was Freshman, Payton Rossen. She had five strikeouts and hit two singles.

I got to interview Payton about the game since this was her first game on varsity as a freshmen.

H: “How nervous were you for your first varsity game?”

P: “I was nervous during the first inning because it was my first time starting for varsity. I was way more nervous for the last inning since it was their last at bats and they could’ve came back.”

H: “How happy were you when you got your first varsity hit?”

P: “I was pretty happy but I didn’t get to run my own bases so I was mad about that”

H: “What are you most excited for this season?”

P: “I’m excited to get more wins and more strikeouts.”

On Wednesday, the girls will be traveling to North Olmsted to take on the the eagles. The weather is looking perfect so the game start will be at 4:30
