Spring break came around, and we all know what that means… No school! Many people went on trips with their family or the school, Lakewood High’s Softball team went to Tennessee from Tuesday to Saturday on “The Ripken Experience.”

It started with the long, eight-hour drive to Fort Pigeon, Tennessee. They got to their hotel and unpacked their stuff, and went swimming in the hotel pool and hot tub, then went out to dinner and an arcade.

Throughout the rest of their trip, they went to a nearby city named Gatlinburg, a cute old-timey city with lots of attractions and shops. They also went to an outlet mall with outlet stores including Polo, Nike, Adidas, and so many more. The girls also went to a few local Tennessee restaurants and ice-cream places.

The girls had practices on the Ripken Experience fields and also the city fields. The Varsity team had four games while they were in Tennessee, and Junior Varsity had two. The JV team won the first game 9-3 and lost the second. Freshman, Sabrina Hamdan, hit her first dinger on the same day as her older sister, Saher Hamdam also hit a dinger.

The trip was a great team bonding experience and the girls were upset to see the trip end, but the Monday after they got back, they already had another game, against Lorain. Junior Varsity won 19-8! Varsity lost to Lorain but is awaiting their next game to make a comeback and they plan to take home yet another win!
