    The Beck Center for the Arts has a well-rounded line-up for this year’s theater season. From adult comedies to Disney musicals to tragedies, they have it all. This year’s season include the regional premier of My First Time, as well as an encore production of The Little Mermaid. The Beck Center is also partnering with the Baldwin Wallace University Musical Theater Program for the 50th anniversary of the rock and roll musical Hair. The Lineup includes One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Waiting for Godot, The Little Mermaid, Hair, My First Time, Bent and Gypsy. In addition to these shows, the Improvisation group Something Dada performs on Friday evenings at 8:00 in the studio theater when there are not other productions running.

    One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is a play based on the novel by Ken Kensey. The play takes place in a mental asylum, and main character Randle Patrick McMurphy and his revolt against the asylum’s procedures. He later learns the authorities and Nurses have awful ways of enforcing conformity.

    My First Time is an adult comedy about people’s different sexual experiences. The play chronicles the stories published on the website myfirsttime.com, a website where people could share their stories, whether they are horrific, funny, sweet or anything in between. This production is the regional premier.

    The Little Mermaid is a classic musical about a mermaid who falls in love with a prince and wants to go on land to be with him. The musical features hits such as ‘Under the Sea’, ‘Part of Your World’ and ‘Kiss The Girl’.  This musical production features Natalie Blalock (Broadway’s The Scarlet Pimpernel) as Ursula. This timeless fairy tale is perfect for all ages, and is sure to delight everyone who watches.

    The theater season at Beck Center this year is sure to be a success. Filled with comedy, tragedy, drama and everything in between, there is something for everyone.
