The annual Light Up Lakewood Festival is coming up on December 2nd, 2017. Light Up Lakewood has been a community tradition for ten years now, this year’s event being the eleventh celebration. This year’s event will feature a holiday themed parade, fireworks, a tree lighting ceremony, food trucks, live music performed by the Sellouts, and many other fun activities.

The day starts off with Lunch with Santa at Dewey’s Pizza from 11:00 to 1:00 and finishes off with a fireworks show at 7:00, with several other events taking place in between. Although the fireworks show starts at 7:00 the fun does not stop then. Festival goers are encouraged to stay and watch the musical performances taking place at the Lakewood Public Library and the Lakewood Baptist Church.

Every year, two juniors are selected, because of their commitment to serving the community, to be the King and Queen of Light Up Lakewood. Chosen out of multiple applicants, it is a highly sought after title as the crowning is accompanied by a college scholarship. The King and Queen are crowned at 3:00 at Plantation Home and are recognized during the Holiday Parade and the Lighting Ceremony.

This festival is a great way to kick off the winter months, spending quality time with family and friends while celebrating the great city of Lakewood and all it has to offer. Light Up Lakewood gives Lakewood residents a time to have fun with their community while also giving them a chance to appreciate small businesses and restaurants located in downtown Lakewood.
