A statement by Markle was released this morning, May 17th, claiming her father Thomas Markle will not be attending the royal wedding on Saturday.

“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.”

Thomas Markle’s surgery was scheduled for 7:30 A.M Wednesday morning. According to TMZ, it was successful. Thomas had a heart attack last week and following chest pains caused him to check himself into the hospital.

Questions were being asked if Thomas Markle will walk his daughter down the aisle at the wedding. Markle’s mother may or may not walk her down the aisle but is attending the wedding.

If Markle’s mother does not walk her down the aisle, Prince William or Prince Charles may step in replacement.

Meghan Markle’s step siblings will not be attending the wedding. They were not invited because they have criticized the couple in past years. Thomas Markle Jr. did however try to reach out to Meghan to get invited.

Markle and Prince Harry are set to get married on Saturday at St. George’s Chapel.
