Jose Ramirez’s little brother was signed on Friday, August 31st, 2018. He was signed as an international free agent out of Baní, Dominican Republic, by the Cleveland Indians.

Jose Baez Ramirez turned 16 on August 30, 2018 making him eligible to be signed. Baez Ramirez is listed as a 5-foot-9, 146-pound. He is a switch hitter, just like his older brother. Baez Ramirez will be training at the camp of the Cleveland Indians in the Dominican Republic.

An international evaluator said that Baez has good hands, a good approach at the plate and an athletic build, but said that he needed to continue to build up his strength.

Older Jose Ramirez is very happy that his little brother signed with the Cleveland Indians and that he is in the same organization as he is.

Jose Ramirez says, “I’m super happy that he signed here, I know that they’re going to treat him really well. We’re really like a family here, so I know they’re going to treat him well. I’m really happy that he signed here.”

When senior Seth Andregg was asked what he thought about the new signing, he said, “I think it’s a good move for the future of the Cleveland Indians roster, as players leave, there will be a new GOAT. He will be a great addition to the team.”

On the contrary, David Facaros says, ” I think the Indians are making this move way too fast. He just turned 16. Anything could happen and they would be stuck because they already paid him. Just because Jose Ramirez is great, doesn’t mean his brother will be just as good. Cleveland is jumping the gun on this one.”
