    Cleveland Heroes Run

    Cleveland+Heroes+Run

On September 16th, in the West Park neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio, the streets will be packed with people from all over the area. They will be participating in the annual Cleveland Heroes Run. All of the races will start and finish at the school Saint Joseph Academy. There is a 5 mile race that will go through the Cleveland Metro parks, a 2 mile race that will go along Rocky River Drive, and a kids race that will go along the school’s track.

The day begins with registration from 7-8 am. At 7:15 am Mass will begin. The opening ceremonies and roll call of fallen heroes begins at 8:10 am. The 2 mile run/walk starts at 8:30 am, the 5 mile run starts at 8:35 am, and the kids race begins at 9:30 am.

Awards for these races include the top three male and female finishers in all of the different age groups and categories. Anyone that participates in the kids race will receive a medal.

This race is not just another community run; it will have an opening ceremony that will include a roll call of all of the Cleveland police and firefighters whose names are on the West Park Fire and Police Memorial. These names are people who lived in West Park and lost their lives in the line of duty while serving in West Park.

Along with the races and roll call, every year the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association and the Association of Fire Fighters select one scholarship recipient. Another scholarship is given to a Saint Joseph Academy student, this is a result of them hosting this race every year. The Cleveland Heroes Run is a worthwhile event because of its great cause.
