Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, has been attacked relentlessly on social media over her decision to come forward with accusations against SCOTUS nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.

The GOP has expressed disbelief, and the president posted on twitter, saying, “I have no doubt that, if the attack on Dr. Ford was as bad as she says, charges would have been immediately filed with local Law Enforcement Authorities by either her or her loving parents, I ask that she bring those filings forward so that we can learn date, time, and place!”

Many twitter users responded to Trump’s tweet sharing their stories of sexual assault, and the reasons they did not report.

“Because I was in college, drunk at a party and I thought everyone would say it was my own fault. I told him NO, that should have been enough.”

“When I was 17, during the summer after I graduated High School, I was supposed to be on a date and ended up the guy took me to a house and 5 guys raped me. I am 72 years old now and this is the first time I have ever spoken up. I have been too ashamed to report.”

    “Because he was my father.”

“Because I still don’t know if it was rape. I was 17, he was a 40-year-old nightclub owner. He had sex with my friend and then rolled over and had sex with me. I didn’t move, I didn’t make a noise, I just waited for it to stop.”

These stories share the experience of coping with the aftermath of sexual assault. They reflect on Dr. Ford’s experience, and show other survivors that they are not alone.
