    Cleveland Cavaliers Preseason Standings

The Cavaliers have a preseason record of 2-1 as they head into their first games following LeBron James’ leaving.

The team defeated the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, October 2nd at Boston’s TD Garden with a final score of 102-95. Just four days later, on Saturday, October 6th, the Cavs defeated the Celtics for a second time at the Quicken Loans Arena with a final score of 113-102.

Celtics guard, Marcus Smart, and Cavalier guard, JR Smith, were both fined for an altercation on the court in Saturday’s game.

Smart was fined $25,000 for shoving Smith from behind and further encouraging the altercation. Smith was fine $15,000 for instigating the altercation.

The Cavaliers’ first loss came from the Indiana Pacers on Monday, October 8th at the Quicken Loans Arena. The game ended in victory for the Pacers with a final score of 111-102.

All eyes are on the Cavs this season as they have lost both LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, two of the teams leading players.

Leading the team in points is Kevin Love with 17 points per game. Cedi Osman leads in rebounds with just over six rebounds per game. David Nwaba takes the lead in free throws with 100% accuracy after his first game of the preseason.

The Cavaliers head coach, Tyronn Lue, commented on James’ leaving saying that it is, “tough when you lose a guy like LeBron,” and that he is excited to have a, “new challenge.”

Lakewood student and Cavs fan, Christopher Thelen shared his thoughts on how he thinks this season will go saying, “I think they will be a pretty decent team but I do not think they will be nearly as good as they have been in the past.”

The Cleveland Cavaliers will have a very interesting season after losing two of their strongest players.
