On Thursday, January 10th, Lakewood High School hosted a dual meet. During periods 7, 8 and 9 of the school day, the students and faculty headed down to the new gym to watch their fellow students compete.

On one end of the floor, the dominant LHS wrestling team  looked to defeat Westlake. On the other end of the floor, the elegant LHS gymnastics team set forth to topple Westlake and Avon.

The meet that featured almost opposite sports was not only exciting, but it was packed. The school funneled over a thousand students into the gym. Needless to say the students came prepared and rooted there teams on proudly.

Before the meet we talked to senior Jared Yocabet and asked him whether or not he thinks the big meet was a good idea. “I’m not going to lie, I didn’t know about the event until the day of. I felt like if the meet was better advertised, then maybe more kids would be more enthusiastic.” He would go on to say- “Its a really fun idea; I just wish they would do this for more sports.”

After the big meet, we talked to junior Wrestler Spencer Reynolds. “It was really cool that we had so much support. Not only was the gym electrifying, but I felt like I had so much more energy.” Reynolds would go on to win his match.

We asked Reynolds if he thought the dual meet was a good idea and whether they should do it again. “Of course! Who doest want to skip class and root for their home team. I also thought it was really cool seeing the gymnasts doing flips and stuff, there was something for everyone to watch.”
