    One in about eight women will develop a form of invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime, according to Breastcancer.org.

    New research shows that oolong tea can can damage breast cancer cells. It also shows that people who consume larger amounts of oolong tea have a lower risk of developing breast cancer. Despite the fact that there have been many recent advances in the medical field, breast cancer remains the most common form of this disease and the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women, according to Medical News Today.

    According to the American Cancer Society, more than 250,000 women in the United States developed breast cancer in 2017 and more than 40,000 of these women have died as a result. Researchers are still looking for a more effective treatment strategy for breast cancer and they are definitely keeping an open mind. They are also looking for treatments that are not as harmful to the body as chemotherapy does. They are looking for non-toxic ways to treat this horrible disease that has already taken so many lives.

    Scientists began to look into the benefits of green tea considering green tea has countless benefits for the human body. Scientists found that certain compounds do have anti-cancer effects. Few studies, however, have not examined more than one kind of tea and the role they could possibly play in cancer prevention. “This is amazing. Breast cancer has taken the life of so many innocent, strong women and it is just getting old,” said senior Aaron Ocejo.

    Chunfa Huang, Ph.D, is an associate research professor that is apart of the department of internal medicine at St Louis University in Missouri. Huang led the search to find out the benefits of oolong tea. They examined the effect of oolong tea extract on six different cancer cell lines. The extracts of green and oolong tea stopped the growth of all types of breast cancer cells. In the conclusion, they wrote oolong tea and green tea can induce DNA damage and cleavage, it plays a very big role in breast cancer cell growth, and has a very great chance as working as a chemopreventive agent against breast cancer cells.
