    NBA Trade Deadline

    NBA+Trade+Deadline

The trade deadline is one of the most important times of the year in the NBA season, especially for teams contending for a championship. Also, teams with big markets like New York, Los Angeles, and Houston have a better chance of landing these trades and players because they have more money.

Los Angeles has been the center of trade talks for the past month after Lebron’s injury on Christmas Day. Before his injury, the Lakers were the 4th seed in the West and now they are currently out of the playoffs with a losing record. Lebron and the Lakers have pushed for a trade with the Pelicans to acquire Anthony Davis. Other teams like the Boston Celtics also want to make a deal with the Pelicans but they had to wait until the summer because of Kyrie’s contract. With the trade deadline ending the Lakers did not land a big name but they acquired two role players in Reggie Bullock and Mike Muscala. Senior Adam Hascher said, “I don’t think the Lakers will make the playoffs with an injured Lebron this year”.

The Lakers were not the only team in trade talks before the deadline. The Dallas Mavericks landed the most talented player in Kristaps Porzingis from the Knicks for Deandre Jordan, Wesley Mathews and Courtney Lee.  Porzingis will likely sit the rest of the year as he has been injured since last year.

Also, the 76ers acquired two solid players in Tobias Harris and Boban Marjanovic for Landry Shamet and a couple first round picks. This trade has made Philadelphia one of the best teams in the East next to Boston, Milwaukee and Toronto.
