    Space Jam 2

The 1996 classic Space Jam if officially going to have a sequel. Fans were skeptical that Space Jam 2 was going to be a reality, but the release date was just announced. Space Jam 2 will hit theaters on July 16th, 2021. LeBron James’ production company, SpringHill Entertainment, announced the date and a promotional image on Twitter on Thursday, February 21st.

LeBron James will star in this movie alongside the Looney Tunes characters. It has not been revealed who else will be in the movie yet, but as we get closer to the release they will hopefully announce more information. The movie will be directed by Terence Nance, most known for creating HBO’s sketch show, Random Acts of Flyness. The movie will be produced by Ryan Coogler, most known for Creed and Black Panther.

The original Space Jam starred Micheal Jordan along with other basketball stars from that era including Charles Barkley, Larry Johnson, and Patrick Ewing. Across all social media platforms people have been speculating about what basketball stars from this era will join LeBron in Space Jam 2. Some think that Isaiah Thomas, Draymond Green, Joel Embiid, and Giannis Antetokounmpo might make an appearance. It will be exciting to see who ends up in the film.

When Lakewood High School Junior, Jordan Esposito, heard that Space Jam 2 was for sure happening, he said, “It has been a long while since I have seen Space Jam, and I am excited to see what the directors can come up with to live up to the original’s nostalgia.”
