Full Airworthy Review on Boeing 737 Max Needed

The crash of Lion Air Flight JT610 last October sounded warning bells. An experienced flight crew of eight and 181 passengers dead and an almost new Boeing 737 Max 8 jet. The Jet was found broken at the bottom of the Java Sea, just 12 minutes after taking off from Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, Jakarta. They were on a routine flight to Depati Amir Airport in Pangkal Pinang.

Five months later another 737 Max 8 has dived into the earth at a speed in excess of 383 knots (709 km/h/ 484 mph) killing all 157 people on board. this time the crash happened in Ethiopia. Both failed 737s are fourth generation.

The suspicion that the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS), which is in place to stop the aircraft from stalling if it develops too steep a rate of climb, needs investigation as it is seen to be the problem In both recent aircraft crashes.

Not a single senior executive of Boeing is reported to have visited the crash site or met with the relatives of those killed. According to aecnewstoday.com Boeing’s response to both crashes has been “appallingly impersonal, and limited to prepared statements. Questions sent to the airline have either not been responded to, or responded to with the original statement expressing ‘sadness’, while staunchly defending the aircraft”

We talked to LHS student Tommy Sala and asked him about whether or not he trusts the new Boeing’s 737s. Tommy stated “I think it’s a shame that Boeing is not doing more for the people dead and the people who will be flying in their planes. The smallest error could cost the lives of hundreds.”
