Manchester United have expressed their shock after a Manchester United fan was stabbed following his teams Champions League victory against Paris St-Germain in the French Capital on Wednesday.  The 44-year-old man who still has not been named was reportedly in a taxi and was attacked once the taxi stopped.

Reports suggest that the man was stabbed in the chest and had to undergo emergency surgery after being taken to a high dependency unit at the European Georges-Pomidou Hospital in Paris.

Sky has claimed that the man was in the taxi with friends singing when the taxi stopped and told them to get out. Allegedly the man tried to protect a female friend but was stabbed with a large blade. Reports in France say that an arrest has been made and a suspect is in custody.

A Manchester United spokesman said, ” we were shocked to hear about this incident with one of our fans who was stabbed while in Paris for the Champions League game. Everyone at the club wishes him well during his recovery.”

Diogo Dalot, the United defender, tweeted: ” We are in touch with the French authorities following an incident with a British man in Paris on 6 March and be ready to offer assistance if required.”

The news follows the stabbing last month of a Manchester City supporter who had travelled to German to watch his teams Champions League tie against Schalke.

Lakewood High School’s very own Alexander Blinky said, ” this is horrible, this poor man was just out having a good time with some friends after his favorite sports team won. You should be able to have fun without having to worry about stupid stuff like this.
