    Lakewood+High+School+Wins+Award

On April 25th, Lakewood High School was chosen as the Best Public High School by Scene. Cleveland Scene Magazine released an issue on Best of Cleveland 2019 which includes top in sports and recreation, shops, services, schools, food and drink, and arts and entertainment.

Lakewood placed first among all other schools in the Cleveland area. Behind Lakewood was Rocky River High School in second place,  Solon High School in third place, Cleveland Heights High School in fourth place, and Shaker Heights High School in fifth place.

Although the high school was the school to take the honors, the Lakewood City School District congratulates all of the wonderful elementary and middle schools that provide uber amounts to our wonderful community.

Not only did Lakewood High School win Best Public High School, but the city of Lakewood as a whole won Best Neighborhood– an incredible honor. Ohio City, Tremont, Cleveland Heights, and the Detroit-Shoreway/Gordon Square were the top following area.

Janet McElwain, a previous district worker, said, “It does not surprise me that Lakewood received an honor like this. The high school, along with every other school in the district, has lots to offer–this was well deserved.”
