In the 2019/2020 school year, the Lakewood High travel club has decided to go to Costa Rica. We are set to leave on March 13, and come back on the 21st.

I have been a member of the travel club for three years now, and to anyone reading this I am telling you it worth joining. My first year, we flew down to Ecuador for eight days.

During that time we spent a few days in the city of Quito, and then we flew off to the Galapagos islands, and spent the rest of our trip there. Staying there is something that I will always remember, and I made friends and experienced things that I will treasure until the day I die.

I grew up watching the television channel Animal Planet, and the Galapagos islands was almost always on due to their diverse and untouched ecosystem. There are animals the reside on those islands that are found nowhere else on the world, and it was a dream come true to go visit that place.

The second trip I went on was a trip to Ireland. Being mostly Irish, I thought it would be really cool to see what its like in the homeland. And I wasn’t disappointed. The country was beautiful with busy cities, but also peaceful with its vast farmland.

I had a great time on that trip, and I wish that I could go back. Hopefully, the trip this year will be no different from the last two. I am excited to embark on this new journey, and so are my friends.

Cole Dockus, a friend and fellow member of the travel club, said, “The trip to Ireland was a lot of fun. I got to meet a lot of new people and see a lot of new things. I hope that this trip is somehow able to outdo the last one.” With less than a month to go before we take off, I find myself giddy with excitement.
