    Coming to an End

    Coming+to+an+End

    One week.

One week from this day, Thursday May 7, is the seniors’ last day, May 14th.

Although the last day for seniors was supposed to be May 21st with many events ahead, there are other ways seniors are being recognized.

Three events including voting for the Commencement speaker and picking your cap and gown and senior t-shirt day(post on social media), have already happened on the 1st, 2nd and 6th. The next up coming dates are the 8th when pictures are due (little, recent, cap and gown),  and Senior Apparel Day (wear college, military, vocational things).

May 11th staff members from LHS are going to drop off yard signs to everyone who is graduation in 2020. May 21st is Senior Dress up Day where you have the option of putting on your prom outfit or dress up clothes along with going to pick up your senior flower. May 26th and 27th will be when school items are returned, pick up yearbook and clean out your locker.

As of right now there is still plans to have a prom at the Botanical Gardens on June 25th, but is only if everything is opened and social distancing can be decreased. As of right now the students and parents are  unsure what is happening with commencement. There has been the options of virtual commencement, drive through commencement, but a lot of parents and students are very upset by this. Many people would like the option of having it on the field– follow the protocols– because it would be kind of terrible to say goodbye to everyone through a computer.

Things are starting to open back up, May 12 retail can reopen,  salons will open May 15, bars and restaurants can open (patio only), but then the 21st they can open inside. On May 11, childcare guidance will be announced.  Gyms, campgrounds and libraries haven’t been put on the timeline, Dewine says he doesn’t see an issue of the ability to go camping as long as guidelines are followed.

Hopefully, not to get any hopes up, by late June things will be more normal that way the Class of 2020 can get a proper graduation and be able to have a prom.
