    Virtual Light Up Lakewood

    Virtual Light Up Lakewood

For the past 14 years, LakewoodAlive has annually put on shows and events to create one of the most joyous Lakewood traditions, especially around the holidays. If you don’t know what that is, continue reading about Light up Lakewood. Light up Lakewood is held in early December every year in downtown Lakewood. Some would say it’s like a night festival with a variety of things to do from games, food and drinks, fireworks, and live concerts. All residents of Lakewood come together to enjoy the holiday season as one for the night, and spread the holiday spirit.

However, due to covid-19, this year we will be virtually joining the community. Together we will safely bring the spirit of this tradition to life. Light up Lakewood 2020 takes place virtually from Saturday, December 12 through Sunday, December 20. This virtual and family-friendly event will feature nine days of Lakewood holiday traditions. They will premier daily on Facebook and Instagram beginning December 12. The virtual event will kick off with our Lighting Ceremony that starts with a mini-parade featuring Light Up Lakewood celebrities including Santa, Grinch, and Buddy the Elf. If you look at the LakewoodAlive website they have a chronological list of events.

Light Up Lakewood is thought of as one of the main community traditions. Especially around the holiday season. It really brings people together and creates the beauty and vibrancy that we adore about Lakewood. ”Light Up Lakewood is such a fun celebration of the season and we wanted to do our best to keep the celebration alive, in a safe way,” said LakewoodAlive Executive Director Ian Andrews. “We are thrilled to bring you nine days of videos featuring some of our favorite traditions of the event and hope it brings the community together during this uncertain time.”
