The Cleveland Browns beat their rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers, last night by a score of 48-37.

It has been nearly 20 years since the Browns made the playoffs in 2002. And in that year, the Browns barely made it into the wildcard and played the same team! In 2002, they lost 33-36 in the wildcard game to the Steelers. This was an extremely close game that allowed for the Browns to eventually get their revenge, which came last night.

Since the Browns are not the top contender in the NFL right now, they have to fight harder than the other teams to make it to the top. The key to doing this is momentum, and nothing creates momentum more than beating your rival team to start off the playoffs. If the Browns can keep up this momentum surge, they will have no trouble dominating the other teams.

When asked about what he thought about the Browns situation right now, Jackson Koster, a sophomore at Lakewood High School, said” I have been a Browns fan for as long as I can remember and it hasn’t been easy. We have been let down countless times, but in my eyes being let down so much makes winning in the playoffs feel even better. It feels like a dream and I don’t want to wake up.”

The Browns have suffered a 1-15 season and even a 0-16 season not that long ago. But they were able to finally pull together and show these Cleveland fans something worth rooting for.  And there couldn’t have been a better time to pull together than beating their rivals in the first round of the playoffs.
