As November rolls around, the holiday season is in the air. Unfortunately, many Lakewood families cannot pay for their holiday meals. This year, the junior class is sponsoring a food drive to help them.
Each year, the Lakewood Community Center helps feed hundreds of hungry families in the community. TRhis month it’s your turn! Seventh period classes will be collecting change from November 5th to November 16th. The money collected will buy food for many families in need.
This is a class competition and whichever class collects the most change wins a pizza party. The goal this year is to feed 600 families — 300 families for both Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Junior class vice-president, Megan Barrett said, “I think it affects the community because it is helping feed hundreds of families each holiday. It also benefits the community by bringing people together for a good cause.”
Make sure to bring all your spare change to help the families in need!
