    Varsity Boys’ Soccer GLC Game

    Varsity Boys Soccer GLC Game
    Ohio Soccer Association

This Wednesday, the Varsity Boys’ soccer team took on Orange High school in their battle for the Great Lakes East conference title. This was potentially their last game of the season if they had lost, but they won 4-1 and will be testing their luck next week in the Great Lakes Conference finals, with a potential chance at states if they do win.

Cale Clemons, Ajaya Mahat, and Andy Shoff all played their parts with each of them scoring, which helped pave the way for their victory. The entire team played except a few JV players, showing just how much they wanted this win, especially for the underclassmen who got a feeling for what a high stakes game it was.

Junior David Burns said this after the game,”” You do or do not there is no try”-Yoda,” David is also playing Varsity as a kicker and punter for the boys’ football team, where he puts his soccer skills to use and is a great addition to the team.

This team has come very far this season after a shaky start with players that didn’t have the chemistry needed to win and different seniors trying to take leadership. It is very clear now that they pulled it together and are shooting for the top.

The amount of work that this team puts in is truly remarkable with most of the senior players all working part time, on top of daily practices and games weekly, showing what the game means to the athletes involved. All that is left now is a final push to win conference finals next week; either way, it has been an amazing season.
