Track Season Approaches

As Spring approaches, so does the spring sport season.

One popular spring sport is track. Although many runners participate in indoor track, the spring is when it really gets serious.

After a good finish in 2011-12 season, expectations for the upcoming season are high. Last year, the girls’ team went undefeated in their dual meet schedule, making that a hard year to beat.  Among the team, there are several quality seniors, including Amanda Sacha, who accepted a scholarship to run at Ohio University.

Seniors Ben Toole, Julie Herman, and Tomas Pano provide leadership as well as being great assets to the team.

Senior Julie Herman says, “ We are looking forward to coming off a conference championship, and hoping for more people to make it farther this year.”

Senior Amanda Sacha added, “ Everyone’s excited for this upcoming season. It’ll not only be successful, but a lot of fun.”

Switching to the West Shore Conference provides a new challenge in uncharted territory. Teams such as Rocky River, Bay, Avon Lake and Elyria Catholic provide new experiences.

The first meet is April 3rd against Elyria Catholic and North Ridgeville, and the first home meet is April 17th against Vermilion.
