    Lakewood’s Veterans Day Service

    Lakewoods+Veterans+Day+Service

On November 11th, our country celebrates Veterans Day. We honor the men and women who have fought in the military and defended our country.  Memorial services and other gatherings are scheduled around the country to honor and pay attribute to our veterans.

The City of Lakewood will also be having their Annual Veterans Day Service. It will be located at Lakewood Park on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 11:00. The service will begin with the Presentation of Colors then the singing of the National Anthem preformed by The Four Vet Quartet.

Every year a veteran speaks during the service. The key speaker discusses their dedication to our country and how they continued to work with U.S. veterans. Last year, Joseph A. Jennings III spoke at the service. This year’s speaker will be introduced at the beginning of the service.

Lakewood High School will also be represented in the service by the Lakewood Ranger Marching Band. The Marching Band will be preforming two songs during the service, Patriot Parade Sequence and Arm Forces Solute. The Band throughly enjoys performing at the service because it is a way to give back the to the community.

The service is largely attended by veterans, their families, and community members. The community agrees that the service is an enjoyable and respectful way to thank our veterans for all their dedication and work for our country. The Veterans Day Service is free to the community and is followed by coffee and doughnuts in the Woman’s Club Pavilion.
