Kyren Jefferson is a sophomore at LHS, he is on the Lakewood JV Basketball Team who are currently 6-2 and playing very well. Kyren has done a great job stepping in for the hurt starting Point Guard, Derek Walker Kyren has been working with another back up Point Guard, Shannon Cotto, in making sure that the team does not loose their winning streak despite the injury. I had a chance to talk with the point guard and ask him some questions about him and his game.

Q: How long have you been playing basketball?

A: I’ve been playing basketball since fifth grade, I like the competitive nature of the game.

Q: Do you play any other sports besides basketball?

A: Yeah, I play football too.

Q: Which one do you like to play more?

A: I like to play basketball but what I really like to do is football.

Q: How long do you want to keep playing basketball?

A: I want to play as long as I can, until the end of high school at least.

Q: Do you have any plans for your sports after high school?

A: I want to go to college, hopefully I’ll be able to play either basketball or football.

Q: Do you know where you would want to play?

A: Not really, I want to play at least D2 though.

Q: What’s your favorite memory from playing basketball?

A: My eighth grade year at Garfield, we were one game away form the championship. It was an intense game and we played great. We might have lost, but I’ll always remember the atmosphere and how fun it was to play with my friends.

The Rangers’ next game is at Westlake on 1-10. Kyren and the team looks to win a game against one of the best teams in the conference.
