    Seniors! There’s still time to order flowers and senior T-shirts. If you are thinking about ordering a T-shirt, we suggest you pre-order it now because the bookroom will not be selling them.

    Today’s the last day of Spirit Week.

    Attention Seniors! If you are interested in representing your class and speaking at commencement, please sign up in the cafeteria, outside room C215 or outside of the Bookroom. Tryouts will take place after school on March 20th. Questions, see Mr. Lamphear in C215.

     

    Valentine’s Day may be over, but it’s never a bad day for chocolate! The Junior Class is still selling Malley’s Bars to raise money for YOUR 2018 Prom! Stop by Ms. Johnson’s room (B305), before or after school, if you are interested in selling a box. You can buy individual bars from Ms. Johnson, as well. Reminder, if you have signed out a box to sell, the $36 is due by the end of this month. The remaining balance will be added to your student fees. Please return any and all funds to Ms. Johnson in room B305 or Mr. Roth in room A210.

    Seniors! Senior Promise 2017 invites schools and teen-based organizations to submit proposed slogans for this year’s campaign. One winning entry will become the Senior Promise 2017 slogan and the winner of a $5,000 grant. National Foundation for Teen Safe Driving will award a total of $10,000 in grants to the 10 schools or organizations submitting the best entries. The nationwide PSA campaign will issue a call-to-action for students, parents, guardians, and every member of the community to help make this a safe prom and graduation season.     The 15th Annual Physics Cardboard Boat Regatta sponsored by Tavens Packaging and Display Solutions is scheduled after school on Tuesday, March 7th. Corporate sponsor, Tavens Packaging and Display Solutions located in Bedford Heights, has generously donated $1,500 towards the Physics program and also donated cardboard for students. Tickets for this year’s regatta go on sale Tuesday in the bookroom or in A312…last year was a sell out so get your ticket today.  We are still looking for Lakewood High School Clubs or Groups to build cardboard boats and participate.  We are also looking for staff to participate and/or volunteer.  Please contact Mr. Hille in room A312 to sign up or get more information.  Staff, please email Mr. Hille if you’d like to volunteer.

     

    As a part of Black History Month, we are sharing some biographies of people who have made an impact in our history: Marie M. Daly: Best Known for being the first African-American woman to receive a Ph.D. in chemistry in the U.S., her research opened up a new understanding of how foods and diet can affect health of the heart and the circulatory system. Daly championed efforts to get students of color and graduate science programs.

     

    Attention Watters Science Seminar members.  Our next seminar will be Wednesday, March 8th during periods 3 & 4 in LEC hall 2.  Our guest is Jim Nemet from the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo who will bring animals and discuss the research being conducted by the zoo to help animals in captivity.  Permission slips are available from your science teacher and they are due on MONDAY, MARCH 6th.

     

    A reminder! There will be a MANDATORY Girls track team meeting on Monday, February 27th at 7:00pm in Lec Hall 2!
