    It’s almost yearbook time.  The 2017 edition of the LHS Cinema has been printed and will be arriving shortly.  Pre-orders will still be taken in the bookroom or online at www.jostens.com until next Monday, May 1st.  You only have 3 school days left to make sure you will receive a yearbook on distribution day.  The current price is $60, but the price will go up to $65 May 1st.  Make sure you’re not left out.  Order your yearbook NOW!

     

    The 8th graders are coming, the 8th graders are coming!!

    Well, technically we still have a couple months, but we need to start planning for FRESH START 2017!!

    Fresh Start Mentor applications for any interested 9th, 10th or 11th graders can be picked in any house office, guidance office or the book room.

    Completed applications are due to Ms. Breckel this Friday at 3pm.  See Ms. Breckel if you have any questions!

     

    Why hassle with driving to the Botanical Garden and then having to pay for parking?  We have available to you, a FREE shuttle bus that will pick you up at Garfield and drop you off at the Botanical Gardens and then back to Garfield after the prom.  So you’ll only have to drive to Garfield and park for FREE, then hop on the bus!  We have field trip forms in the bookroom.

     

    We also have available, order forms for prom photos.

     

    A $500 scholarship is available to any senior majoring in education next year at the college level.  Please apply and tell us about what inspires you to become an educator!  The Lakewood Leadership Team is able to accept applications (available online, in the guidance office and on the LHS web page) until Friday.

     

    Interested in Democratic activism?  Join the Young Democrats at their first meeting, today, right after school in room C 310.  Refreshments will be served.

     

    The first AP Exam is next Monday, May 1st.  If you haven’t paid off the balance of your exams, the balance is due by this Friday, otherwise you will not be able to take the exam.

     

    Barnstormers Drama Club and Music Department will perform LITTLE WOMEN: THE MUSICAL, May 4th, 5th, and 6th at 7:30 PM in the Civic Auditorium.  Presale tickets can be purchased in the Book Room for $8.00 through May 3rd.  Tickets purchased at the door are $10.00.  You won’t want to miss this show!  See Mr. Farinelli or Ms. Sabin if you have any questions!

     

    Art Club & National Art Honor Society will NOT be meeting this Friday.  Our meeting for this week is canceled. 

    The Young Conservatives club will be holding a meeting at 3:15pm tomorrow in room C311. Representatives from the Cuyahoga County Republican Party will be here to talk and answer questions.

     

    Attention all athletes:  The weight room will be open for you to lift Mondays thru Fridays 3:00-7:00pm until the end of the school year.  You must have all participation forms on file and you must have your school ID.  Coach Hannan and Hyclak will be supervising the sessions.  If you are not an athlete, but would like to lift weights stop by the athletic office to pick up the participation forms.

     

    Buy Malley’s chocolate bars for $1 in the H2O office in B125 or from an H2O leader.

     

    All football players not in a spring sport are expected to be at weightlifting/conditioning on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday’s from 3:30 – 5:00pm at Taft. Questions, see coach Hannan in Lec Hall 1.

     

    Attention all 11th & 12th graders that were a part of the News Crew at Garfield.  Check your school email for an important message.  Don’t know how to get into your email?  Ask your librarian in the LRC.

     

    Attention all 9th, 10th & 11th grade girls interested in playing basketball next year.  We will be starting open gyms on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning May 2nd at Harrison Elementary school from 6:30-8:00pm. See you there!!!!

     

    The MILES Program is selling bottled water for $1 in C116 – stop by and see us!

     

    Colleges and employers are very interested in how much time you have spent serving others in your community.  If you have been volunteering outside of school and school based organizations pick up a volunteer form in the H2O office in B125 to fill out and have signed by your volunteer supervisor.  Turn the form back in to H2O by May 5th to have your service hours entered into your school record.
