You’ve heard it right! Lakewood varsity softball are sectional champions.

On Wednesday night, the lady rangers took on North Royalton bears. North Royalton is 4-14 this season but the rangers haven’t played them in regular season.

Freshmen Payton Rossen was the starting pitcher for the Rangers.

The Rangers came ready to win. They scored early in the 4th inning being 1-0. The score stayed that way until the 5th inning when the Bears scored 3 runs.

The Rangers were then down by 2 runs.

The Lady Rangers then came back in the bottom of the 6th inning with 2 runs for a tie game.

The Bears came up for their last at bats and the rangers managed to get the 3 outs without any bears scoring.

The Rangers went up to the bat for the last time in the bottom of the 7th. It was now or never! Payton Rossen hits a double to start it off then Abby Tuleta was put in to get Rossen home.

Tuleta laid down a bunt and the throw was made to 1st and a wild throw was thrown to get pasted and Rossen came home to win sectional against North Royalton.

The Lady Rangers advanced to play Brecksville at Tri-C on Tuesday afternoon for the districts semi-finals
