Local Spots I Will Miss in College

    The Cleveland Skyline

There are many great places around Cleveland and its surrounding suburbs to eat, meet, and hang out. Although there are a few I hold near and dear to my heart that I have realized I may not be able to replace when I leave for college this upcoming fall.

In August I will go to West Virginia University and its location is…rural, to say the least. So of course I have to include Edgewater park, and all of the cute little beaches along the shores of Lake Erie in my list. Sure, I might be right next to the Monongahela River, but it’s no lake!

Next I would have to say is Brown Sugar Thai Cuisine, a Thai restaurant located on Warren and Detroit that serves the best pad Thai I have ever ordered in my life.

I once heard rumors that Thai Kitchen served the best pad Thai in Lakewood, so of course I had to see if this was true; but Brown Sugar Thai comes out victorious every time.

Obviously Mitchell’s is one of everyone’s favorite ice cream spots and I will definitely miss my beloved Buckeye Sundae, but I will also miss some good gelato spots like The Sweet Spot on Detroit.

One of my favorite foods in Lakewood are the wings from Around the Corner. I may be plain in switching between only mild and teriyaki, but they really do make the best wings in Lakewood.

Although I am sure West Virginia will have a ton of spots to go for a picnic or to look at the city lights, I am going to miss the nights I spend at Whiskey Island, watching the sunset and hanging out in front of the Cleveland Skyline.

Above all other places in Cleveland, I will miss the food at my work the most. I am almost 100% positive that I will go through withdrawals after a week at WVU without eating the food from Townhall. I love the food there because it is all healthy for you and I never feel bad about eating a feast on a shift.

The Thai peanut bowl, sweet crepes, and the chorizo brussels sprouts will be the major reason for my first week homesick symptoms, but then again I love the acai bowls and the sweet potato pancakes and the burger night combo all too much to forget about as well.

All in all, I am going to miss many things about Cleveland and Lakewood and the community I love so much, but I am also content knowing that I have taken none of it for granted and that Morgantown can offer just as many new things for me to fall in love with as Cleveland has over the past eighteen years.
