    Basketball is back!

With the start of the new season, I was able to talk to Alex Bransteter about what he thought was in store for the team. He told me that they have been practicing every day after school in preparation for their season, more specifically, in preparation for their home opener in their new gymnasium versus town-rival; St. Edwards.

The team is ready for redemption on both JV and Varsity. The returning JV players and Coach Svets are hungry to prove that last years’ 3-point loss, was simply a fluke. Varsity and Coach Cammock are looking to prove people wrong after last years lackluster performance.

Furthermore, he went on to tell me about their annual, Purple and Gold Scrimmage. It is an inter-squad scrimmage that divides the team up and lets them showcase their talent to the student body and city spectators.

The ultimate prize here is bragging rights. The game was played on Tuesday, November 28th, according to him it was a fun way to break in the new gym and prep for their big game on Friday, December 1st.

Alex has been playing for the high school team for three years and has poured blood, sweat, and tears into the program’s success; last year he and the JV squad had a stellar 18-4 record and Alex averaged about eight points through the season. He is looking to duplicate, and improve on that record.

Furthermore he is going to be a leader to the new sophomores on the JV squad who are not well-adjusted to the fast pace gameplay. Under Coach Svets, Alex and the JV Rangers should be just fine.
