A shooting at Marshall County School in Benton, Kentucky, left two 15-year-old students dead and 14 more injured, according to NBC. The shooter was another student the same age as the victims and used a handgun.

The shooting started at about 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, in an open area before classes commenced. The sheriff’s deputies made it to the school soon after and arrested the shooter and took away the gun.

One of the victims, a female, died at the school. The second student, a male, was taken to a medical center and passed away there. Five of those who were injured were taken to Venderbilt University Medical Center in nearby Nashville, Tennessee.

The name of the aggressor and his motives have yet to be released, but he will be charged with murder and attempted murder according to BBC. The FBI is also involved in this case.

The students inside the school started “busting down the gates and fences just to get out,” when they heard the bullets, according to the sibling of a pair of Marshall students.

Kentucky’s governor, Matt Bevin, encouraged citizens to “not speculate, but come alongside each other in support and allow the facts to come out,” even if there “is still much unknown” on Twitter.

The shooting is the second in two days, seeing as another 15-year-old girl was shot on Monday by a fellow 16-year-old student in a cafeteria at a school in Italy, Texas. The victim is currently recovering, and the shooter has been arrested.
