Courtney Ribar is a senior captain for the Lakewood High School Girls’ Basketball team. She has been playing basketball since she was very young. She has been a full-time starter for both her junior and senior year and started a few games due to team injuries her sophomore year.

Last Wednesday in their game against the Amherst Steele Comets Courtney lead the team with her career high of fifteen points. She knocked down two three-point shots and back them up with some nice drives. Not only was she a key player on the offensive end but a defensive presence as well. She was able to have a few blocks and grab quite a few boards as well.

Courtney loves a lot of things about the sport of basketball, but she says that “nothing beats getting to be on the court with your best friends.” She has been playing with the same group of girls for many years and has a very special bond with them.

The Girls’ Basketball team has a record of 10-7. This Saturday they head to Berea-Midpark to play the Titans, an exciting match up. It should be a really tough fight on both ends of the court, from both teams.

As her final high school season nears the end, she feels that her team has shown many improvements since their first game and is very hopeful that they can make it far into the tournament. It is clear that Courtney has a lot of spirit and is very proud of her team.
