In the wake of the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump’s attorney paid adult film actress–Stormy Daniels–$150,000 to keep quiet about her alleged affair with the Republican candidate. Currently, the arrangement is well underway into becoming the most talked about “hush agreement” in history–placing the president in the hot seat. Trump has denied having an affair with Daniels, and his lawyers are now threatening her with financial ruin–requesting $1,000,000 for every time she violates her agreement to stay silent.
But that didn’t stop her from finally breaking her silence on 60 Minutes….
The interview on the evening of March 21st attracted 22 million viewers–making a bigger draw than the telecasts of this year’s Grammy’s (19.8 million) and the Golden Globes (19 million). During the hour, Daniels described her one sexual encounter with Trump that began at golf event in 2006–following the recent marriage to Melania Trump and the birth of their son just months before.
When asked if she has videos, pictures, emails, or texts during the affair, Daniels did not reveal evidence of the alleged affair stating, “I can’t answer that right now.”…but did continue to hint that she is not yet revealing all she has.
Though the story was never published, the film actress says she was physically threatened in a parking lot with her infant daughter. The threat, she states, came “weeks after she agreed in May 2011 to sell the story of her affair to a magazine for $15,000.” The magazine backed out of the agreement after Cohen threatened to sue.
Daniels states the encounter happened as she was in a parking lot–preparing to go into a fitness class. Suddenly, a man approached her saying, “Leave Trump alone. Forget the story.” He leaned in, looked at her daughter and muttered, “That’s a beautiful little girl. It’d be a shame if something happened to her mom.”
After describing the encounter, Anderson asked her if she took it as a direct threat, Daniels said: “Absolutely.”
When the news of her allege affair with Trump broke last year, she was pushed to deny that it had taken place–which she did in a signed agreement released by Cohen. “They made it sound like I had no choice,” Daniels said. “As a matter of fact, the exact sentence used was, ‘They can make your life hell in many different ways.'”
Since the airing of the program, Cohen’s attorney, Brent Blackley, has sent a cease-and-desist letter claiming that Daniels and her attorney, Michael Avenatti, made “false and defamatory statements” on 60 Minutes. In the letter, Blackley demanded Avenatti and Daniels apologize for insinuating his client was involved with the threat she describes allegedly took place in a Las Vegas parking lot in 2011. He further requested that the two “make clear that you have no facts or evidence to support your allegations that my client has anything to do with the alleged thug.
The affairs continue to resurface with former Playboy model, Karen McDougal, suing to be released from a 2016 legal agreement restrict her ability to speak as well. McDougal stands as the second woman to challenge Trump allies’ efforts during he presidential camping to bury stories about extramarital relationships.
Meanwhile, Melania Trump continues to remain silent about her husband’s (several) alleged affairs and extended her Spring Break trip in Palm Beach as her husband returned to the White House alone.
