On Thursday April 12th, 2018 the Lakewood Rangers took on the top ranked Midview Middies riding a six game losing streak. Just by looking at this match up and the way things have been going for Lakewood, things didn’t look like they were going to go to great.

However, after sitting down and taking a step back from everything that has been happening recently, the Rangers realized what they needed to do and had a chance to knock of one of the top teams at home. Being able to do this would put them back in the hunt for a conference championship.

In the first inning, the Middies struck first with getting four guys on the base path and scoring one run. Lakewood got out of the minor jam and got ready to hit.

The lead off man got on base and it was a wrap from that point on. Senior Jared Naida got on top of one and hit it over the right field fence helping the Rangers jump on top 2-1. They also added another in the inning to make it 3-1.

The Middies failed to score in the second inning and Lakewood jumped on the opportunity to add more on to the lead. Senior Blake Setta hit an inside the park home run and the Rangers added four runs that inning, making it a quick 7-1 lead.

It only took the Rangers 5 innings to run rule and defeat the Middies 11-1 in a game that a lot of people did not think was going to go in Lakewood’s favor.
