    Highlights of Coachella 2018

    Highlights+of+Coachella+2018

The 19th annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California started off on Friday, April 13, and continued till Sunday, April 15. The festival hosted many celebrity musicians and some not so well-known performers as well. Visitors from all over spent the weekend in California, ranging from internet celebrities to Coachella newbies. With these three days of all day music, there was much to happen and lots to highlight.

    1. Coachella Goes Country                                                                                             Internet sensation Mason Ramsey (also known as the Walmart yodeling kid) performed at Coachella last Friday. The 11-year-old performed alongside DJ Whethan, who opened with saying that his guest needed “no introduction” (he’s not wrong). Singing Lovesick Blues by Hank Williams (whom Ramsey sees as his role model), Ramsey excited the crowd with his iconic outfit and vocals.
    2. Cardi B(aby)                                                                                                           Coachella went crazy with Cardi B’s performance, which prominently featured her baby bump. The news is still fresh with Cardi’s pregnancy, when she displayed her stomach during her performance on the late night show Saturday Night Live. Cardi paid tribute to the 1996 Grammys look from R&B’s legendary trio from that era, TLC, with baggy pants, clunky platform shoes and signature pony-tails reminiscent of the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez.
    3. Beychella                                                                                                                                Beyonce broke headlines (once again) with her performance at Coachella. Opening with “Crazy In Love,” “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” and singing several songs from her most recent album, Lemonade, Beyonce energized the crowd for two hours, until she hit them with a big surprise. Jay-Z (Beyonce’s husband) as well as her younger sister, Solange Knowles, came on stage to perform a song. Later, Beyonce brought on fellow Destiny’s Child members, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, performing their hits “Say My Name,” “Soldier” and “Lose My Breath.” After her show, Beyonce was recognized as the first black woman to headline at Coachella.
