It’s the event we have all been waiting for! The 144th running of the Kentucky Derby. This upcoming Saturday, jockeys, gamblers, and horse racing fans from all over the world will conjure at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky to watch the “Run for the Roses.”

The Kentucky Derby also marks the start of the chase for the Triple Crown which is awarded to the horse that wins the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes with American Pharaoh being the latest horse to achieve that feat in 2015. The winner of the Kentucky Derby will win $2 million as the prize.

According to Westgate Las Vegas Superbook, the current odds stand as:

The Derby still remains one of the most exciting annual events of the year. For years, the derby has been dubbed “the most exciting two minutes in all of sports.” People will gather at Churchill Downs, drink their mint juleps, and watch one of the most exciting days in all of sports.

The race conditions look to be fairly moderate with temperatures in the mid 70’s, clouds. and a minimal chance of the rain during the day on Saturday.

If you happen to be free on Saturday, there will be Kentucky Derby coverage all day on the NBC Sports networks. Although the main race isn’t until around 6:45ish, give yourself enough time to place those bets before race time and enjoy “the run for the roses!”
