    Playhouse Square is located in the heart of downtown Cleveland at 1501 Euclid Avenue. It’s made up of different theaters within the district, such as Allen Theatre, Hanna Theatre, Ohio Theatre, KeyBank State Theatre, Connor Palace, Westfield Insurance Studio Theatre, Kennedy’s Theatre, Outcalt Theatre, and Helen Rosenfeld Lewis Bialosky Lab Theatre.

    To many people from all over know Playhouse Square for the outdoor chandelier. The piece of art hangs 44 feet above the East 14th Street and Euclid Avenue intersection. If you know about the theaters, you might know about its reputation as well. Playhouse Square is the largest performing arts production center in the United States, outside of New York.

    Playhouse Square is getting ready to host four plays this winter, which include The NutcrackerA Christmas StoryA Christmas Carol, Flanagan’s Wake, and Spamilton: An American Parody. On December 12, they will host a one-day show called A Magical Cirque Christmas in the KeyBank State Theatre. Then, on December 15, a show called Behind the Scenes of Serial Season 3, will be on stage in the same KeyBank State Theatre. It follows true investigative stories from the podcast, Serial.

    The Nutcracker will be performed in the Hanna Theatre from December 12-16, A Christmas Story will play in the Allen Theatre from December 12-23, A Christmas Carol will be in the Ohio Theatre from December 13-23, Spamilton: An American Parody will be performed in the Hanna Theatre from December 20-January 6, and Flanagan’s Wake will play in Kennedy’s Theatre from January 4- April 27.

    “Theatre is a pretty cool form of art,” said Hana Johnson, “We’re lucky to live so close to such an amazing theatre district.”

    Former First Lady Michelle Obama will even be making a stop at Playhouse Square during her book tour that features her autobiography, Becoming, on March 16.
