After Lebron signed with the Lakers back in July, the majority of people thought that the Lakers would be in contention for a championship but that is not the case. Los Angles was 4th in the Western Conference before Lebron’s injury on Christmas and they have now dropped 6 spots which puts them out of the playoff picture. Currently they are three games behind the Clippers who have the last spot. Senior Adam Hascher said “They have the toughest remaining schedule in the league, I don’t think they’ll make the playoffs”.

Around the trade deadline the Lakers were trying the shop most of their team to get Anthony Davis and it affected the chemistry in the locker room and on the court. Players like Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram and Rajon Rondo were rumored to be in trade packages for the New Orleans star. Before All-Star break, Lebron suffered the worst loss of his career to the Indiana Pacers as they lost by over 40 points and he was seen sitting at the end of the bench by himself.

After the All-Star break the drama has continued. Lebron came out and said that he would “activate playoff mode” but it has not gone too well as they have lost to teams like the Grizzlies and Pelicans who are well out of playoff contention. Also, Lebron has said to the media that the rest of the Laker players need to be comfortable with discomfort, implying that the team is not ready for big playoff moments.

Los Angeles is currently 30-31 coming off of a win against the Pelicans on Wednesday and look to add another win against the Bucks on Thursday.
