Will the Cleveland Indians Win the World Series?

The Cleveland Indians’ year has started out a bit slowly this season. The Indians currently have an 18-15 record (as of May 7th) which places them 2nd in the AL Central, 3 games behind the Minnesota Twins.

Star shortstop Francisco Lindor was absent from the starting roster due until April 20th due to a right calf injury suffered before Spring training and left ankle sprain sustained during rehab.

Even with one of their stars gone, the Cleveland Indians still have their two-time AL Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber as well as Trevor Bauer and Carlos Carrasco dominating the pitching scene.

Experts on the Major League Baseball scene have predicted the Indians to fall short of winning the AL Division series, and the Houston Astros on top. Major League Baseball experts have also predicted the Houston Astros to win the 2019 World Series due to their championship young stars such as Altuve, Correa, Bregman and George Springer, as well as the addition of Michael Brantley and a starting pitching rotation featuring Verlander and Cole.

With losses such as the 10-0 loss to the Mariners last Saturday, it inspires little hope in the future success for the Cleveland Indians this season. However, there have been way more positive moments than bad moments, more good games than bad games that give us hope that the Cleveland Indians can go further than the predicted AL Division win.

The only way the Cleveland Indians will be able to have a higher chance at winning the World Series is if they are able to keep the team healthy throughout the year and secure more wins in the regular season. I think that if they keep going on the track they have set for themselves, they will at least be guaranteed a World Series spot.

The Indians’ Clubhouse manager has said that, “First and foremost, we have a group of guys in this clubhouse that go about it the right way. What they accomplished last year, and what they were able to come together and do again this year, really says a lot about them and their mindset and the way they’ve been able to persevere through a lot the last two years.”

The last three years have proved them to be a worthy team but will they choke in the early postseason again?
