Light Up Lakewood 2019 will be held on December 7th, a little over a month from now.

This has been a tradition of Downtown Lakewood for a few years, much like the Summer Meltdown.

Many people know about what it is, but for those who don’t it’s a winter festival type event that is held in Downtown Lakewood. There are many fast food restaurants and stores for people to go into while they are walking around. There is a parade, fireworks near the end of the event,  a lighting ceremony of the big tree by the Marc’s Plaza when it gets dark, music, food trucks, hot chocolate, and so much more.

It is a way for people to see beautiful winter things and listen to good holiday music. It also is a way for people to see how vibrant Lakewood is during the holiday season. It really gets Lakewood into the holiday spirit.

The event officially starts at 11 am, starting with lunch with Santa. During this time there is also performances starting that are ongoing at the Baptist Church. The main kickoff of the festival is at 4 pm with the Lakewood Masonic Temple’s holiday market.

The parade starts around 5 pm and starts at Manor Park.

The  lighting ceremony will be at 6:30 in front of the Marc’s Plaza, followed by the fireworks only a half hour later at 7 pm. The event ends around 8:30 to 9 pm.

It is now transitioning from spooky season to Thanksgiving season and Christmas season, so we will see more Christmas events happening in the next few months.

Be sure to go to this annual event. It may be cold, but it is still fun!
