    Grammy+Awards+of+2020

Sunday, January 26, 2020 was the Annual 62nd Grammy Awards ceremony and performances held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The Grammy ceremony and television streaming started at 8:00 at night Eastern time. The Grammys awards artists and many other performances that night. Many news relate and connect to this event.

This 2020, the best song of the year was awarded to Billie Eilish of the song “Bad Guy.” Eilish also won the album of the year, “When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” At the Grammys this year, Billie Eilish earned three different awards including the “Best New Artist” award. 2019, making the award ceremony this 2020, was a huge successful year for Eilish.

The “Best Rap Album” of the year, was given to “Igor” by Tyler and The Creator. “Best Rap/Sung Performance” was a winner of “Higher” by DJ Khaled, featuring Nipsey Hussle and John Legend. When streaming or watching live, performances were also a part other than just awards and speeches.

For a big newsflash, Taylor Swift an artist of pop and country skipped the 2020 Grammy Awards. This is the first ever as Swift usually earns awards or attends the Grammy ceremony. Other reports share that some of the songs that recently have been released in her album, are not “hers.” According to the New York Post Page Six, Taylor Swift was not present at the Grammys because the Grammys were not positive she would win the “Best Song of the Year.”

However this was true as Billie Eilish won those awards. The songs by Taylor Swift that were nominees but did not win are “You Need To Calm Down” and “Lover” that are both in her Lover album.

Earlier on Sunday, January 26, 2020, basketball star Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant passed away in a helicopter crash. The Grammys later that night made speeches and contributes regarding the appalling news. Kobe Bryant’s jersey, number 24 of the Lakers was held up and honored.

“Kobe’s death has brought me great sadness and despair, a young man that gave back to his community; he gave inspiration to today’s youth, It was a great thing the Grammys honored him” says Matthew Ropeleski, a student at Lakewood High School.

There were many more awards to the 2020 Grammy award ceremony that can be viewed if it was not watched live. The Grammys website source will show all of the awards won and the nominees for that category.
