This Monday, May 12th, was the March Madness championship game of Baylor against Gonzaga. This game was a highly anticipated matchup between these two teams after one of the top players in the nation, Jalen Suggs, hit a game-winner to move onto the championship game against UCLA.

While Gonzaga’s perfect season was in jeopardy, if they would have won, that would’ve made them the first team since 1972 when UCLA beat Florida Seminoles and legendary coach John Wooden won his 8th title.

Baylor was coming off of a pretty much flawless bracket where all of their games they didn’t need to play from behind at all, facing tough teams in Arkansas, and Kansas, while Gonzaga faced not as good teams in Oklahoma University, Creighton, and USC.

Student of Lakewood High School, Quinton Turpin says,  “I think that Gonzaga will win this game because Jalen Suggs is the best player in the nation.”

Right off the bat, the Baylor Bears looked aggressive and ready to play coming out to a 9-0 lead, raining three’s from all over and getting many offensive rebounds.

Dominating on both sides, Gonzaga’s star guard Jalen Suggs got into foul trouble early, picking up two fouls within the first 3 and a half minutes of the game. This forced them to put in their backup guard, and taking advantage of it, they went up 21-6 within the first seven and a half minutes left in the first half.
