The Cracked Vase
She awakes on a dark night
Pacing floors like a ghost
She’s floating in the candlelight
On the staircase facing the coast.
As she takes each step carefully
Sees her life in pictures
And looks in the mirror brightly
She meets her departure.
She walks through the large golden door
Finds another staircase
One that she never saw before
Her reality now a cracked vase.
New memories come in a flash
Different house and bed
That’s no longer covered in ash
No longer fears to tread
